Travelling back “home”, seeing my family and beyond, we took a day to drive to the lower rhine area, visiting my cousin and her hubby, I had not seen for eleven years. They live in a small village opposite Rees and we took a walk down to the river Rhine.

Well, the Rine is not a river you know, my mom told me when I was little. Der Rhein ist kein Fluss, der Rhein ist ein Strom. Strom in German means something like mighty river; closest competitors are Elbe and Donau in Germany, but all the others are second best.

We were very lucky with the weather, days before and after this Saturday were cold and rainy, so something like a little holiday in a nutshell. Just a reminder: the Rhenish sky has got the most saturated azure blue ever, but maybe not in May already.
